Silk-screening or Digital Printing
Posted March 28, 2009 – 2:44 pm in: FashionWhen you are chosen to be a member of a Greek fraternity or sorority, one of the things that will be added to your wardrobe are custom designed Greek t shirts. These will show your affiliation and your Greek pride. Of course, not all will have custom designed Greek clothing. Some might give you regular Greek tees.
Now, if you want to increase your collection of Greek clothing and your group does not have anything you want, you can easily go online and purchase your own style of Greek T-shirts. Some online vendors even offer custom designing and printing. In addition, because of the improvements in our technology there would be no minimum order requirements because they do not need any silkscreen frames to do the printing.
That new technology is digital clothing printers. They actually work better with dark dyes for light cloth. They use a thinner ink to pass through the jets in the machine. For those dark Greek t shirts, you will need to use light colors and will definitely have to go the silkscreen route.
Just remember, there is a difference between digital printing and silk-screening. One is literally printed on a printer that is specifically made for cloth. There are printers that will print on cloth as long as it has a backing that makes the material stiff like paper. The silk-screening is definitely different because it is literally screening the ink through a screen.
